Claude In Practice

From first prompt to production workflows. A hands-on, two-session program that builds working command of Claude across writing, analysis, planning, and research, from prompting discipline to Projects, Connectors, and integrated workflows.

For professionals who already use Claude, or have started to, and want to move from casual familiarity to genuine working fluency. This workshop builds a working command of Claude through direct, hands-on practice across two live sessions, deliberately structured to take participants from first prompt to professional rhythm.

Session 01, Foundations and Conversational Fluency, covers the work that happens inside a single conversation: interface, prompting discipline, Extended Thinking, sourced research, and document analysis. Session 02, Building Claude into Your Work, covers the work that compounds across conversations and into existing systems: polished deliverables and Artifacts, Projects, Connectors and Memory, and a capstone on integrated workflows. The two sessions are spaced a week apart by design. Participants leave the first able to do useful work that day, return having attempted it against real tasks, and arrive at the second with the questions only practice produces.

Rather than survey AI in the abstract, every concept is reinforced through exercises drawn from realistic professional contexts. Participants will leave with a working framework for deploying Claude across writing, analysis, planning, and research, whether the application is professional content creation, technical problem-solving, decision-making, or personal productivity.

Participants will learn to:

  • Craft prompts and refine them iteratively to produce precise, targeted outputs
  • Apply Extended Thinking to brainstorming, decision analysis, and complex problem decomposition
  • Conduct sourced research with Web Search and Deep Research, evaluating source quality appropriately
  • Interrogate documents (PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets) to extract insight and structured data at scale
  • Generate polished deliverables and establish persistent workspaces through Artifacts, Skills, and Projects
  • Extend Claude into existing tools and accumulated history through Connectors and Memory
  • Integrate the full toolkit into end-to-end professional workflows that chain research, reasoning, and creation

Topic Outline

Two Sessions

Three hours per session · six hours total

Session 01Foundations

Foundations and Conversational Fluency

  • Interface essentials: model selection, conversation structure, attachments, and the role of Artifacts
  • Prompting discipline (clarity, context, constraints, exemplars) and iterative refinement into precise outputs
  • Extended Thinking for brainstorming, decision analysis, and decomposing complex problems
  • Sourced research with Web Search and Deep Research, including evaluation of source quality and matching research depth to task
  • Uploading PDFs, Word files, and spreadsheets, and conducting structured inquiry against their content
Session 02Integration

Building Claude into Your Work

  • Polished deliverables through Artifacts and Skills: charts, diagrams, presentations, and structured files generated to professional standards
  • Establishing persistent context, custom instructions, and curated knowledge bases with Projects, for distinct roles or workstreams
  • Grounding Claude in live organizational data through Connectors: Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, GitHub, and other systems
  • Directing what Claude retains across conversations with Memory, and the settings that govern it
  • Capstone: chaining capabilities into end-to-end workflows (research into a document, document into a presentation, thinking into an executable plan)
